"Running on Empty" is a novel about a teenager who crashes his dads Volvo into his garage. His dad then tells him that he has to pay for all the damage done to the car and garage with the money he had been saving up to buy his dream car a Mustang Cobra. Even with all the money he had saved up it did not cover all of the repair bills, so he was forced to get a job to pay off the rest of bills. He starts to resent his father for making him pay for all the repair bills. He then starts to get into arguments with his dad and skips school. His dad then tells him that he is going to have to clean up his act because he does not want to get a bad reputation because of his son. His father is going to campaign to become a politician soon.
My question to you is what would you do in his situation.
I'd give that kid the belt
ReplyDeleteIf I was the father I would have lost patience with the kid and attempted to make him go to counselling because it seems like there's something wrong with him if he thinks paying for something he broke isn't fair.
ReplyDeleteIf I was in this situation I would try to reason with my dad and split the repair bills but at the same time, the right thing to do is pay the damages because why would it be fair for his father to have to pay for his mistakes.

ReplyDeleteIf i was in the teenagers situation i would do what my dad asks, even though he may think its unfair to him. It is his own fault he crashed his dads car, he should have to make up for what he did not act up on his dad for making him take responsibility.
